Dear My Scene Fans,

This message is NOT about my "Within This House" horror novel/ movie idea, but it could easily be applied to that idea.

Which horror movie scare tactics scare/ would scare you the most?

I'd personally be most scared by the use of the "silent scream" (a frightening character screams silently within a close-up shot; that is, their mouth is open, but no sound is emerging). I'd also be most scared by the use of the "silent whisper", during which a character would mouth a scary, or a threatening, phrase, within a travelling-by shot, without making a sound.

I practiced the "silent scream" in the mirror, just for reference's sake, but I laughed at myself, 'cause I only looked like Esther in that "Orphan" trailer (Remember her silly scream?)!

Then, I tried the "silent whisper", as though I were walking past someone, and I genuinely freaked myself out! I'd definitely utilize THAT tactic if I were making a horror movie!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Nothing. Everything's been done. We've seen it over and over. Therefore, it's not scary anymore.

Horror's really captured best by the written word, not film.
