Anyone know if Big Lots will have My Scenes again this holiday season? I am sure hoping to see at least one new line there.

I really hope so too. If we do, they will be the usual lines with the single outfit and accessories, like Coasterama, Hollywood Bling, Boutique Street and such. Maybe even Fashion Week, since it fits into the category too.

I hope to find some more of the newer lines this year if they do. I wouldn't mind if one or two of the international lines showed up too 8)

Dear My Scene Fans,

If the Botique Street, Fashion Week, and Lots of Looks waves show up at MY local Big Lots! store, I'LL certainly be happy!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

For sure, Club Night should be available. I miss that Chelsea that I had to give up...and would love to have her back! C'mon, Mattel, don't dissapoint. ><

I would like it, but I have my doubts that I will see much in terms of the new MS lines this year at Big Lots. They still have a lot of them left from last year. They're not the best examples of the line. Most of the better dolls are long gone, but we still have several Sweet Street, Club Disco, Spashy Chic, PJ party and Cafe Chic dolls left. A year later they're still sitting there.

Mostly it's the somewhat high prices. The Club Disco dolls were only $9 but the rest were $11-15 a pop and that is a bit high priced for this area which is very depressed economically right now. Even the collector's here are a bit on the cheap side. Dolls that go for $25-50 really tend to stay on the shelves for a while compared to other areas. It's rare a collector's doll will come in at full retail and go right away and people really tend to buy on sale not at full retail and these MS dolls they're actually priced at Big Lots the same way they were at Target, TRU, Walmart, Kmart etc when they actually had them.

They're not actually very much discounted and people in this area are well aware of that. Big Lots here can offer some good deals, but not everything they sell is at a reduced rate and they are very slow to mark things down, particularly in the toy department.

TJ Maxx here is often better, and so is Target.

I'm actually hoping TJ Maxx will get the MS dolls in this year. They often sell brand new Bratz for well under $10 that go for $16-24 regular retail. If they get the MS dolls chances are they'll be a lot cheaper than at Big Lots and some may even end up in the bargain bins just after Christmas. They don't allow dolls to just sit at TJ Maxx. If they don't sell in 2-3 weeks? They get marked way down and they're gone! I've picked up a few dolls there for like $3-5 that would have cost me 3-5X that had I gone to Big Lots.

There are a couple of MS dolls left there that I wouldn't mind having, like the other PJ dolls. I liked them all, but I only bought Chelsea because they were so much more. A year later they're still priced more than the others and I'm just not into paying that much extra for the addition of a plastic makeup box and a couple of tiny makeup things which I don't really care much about. A year later you'd think Big Lots would get the idea and mark them at least down to the price of the other $11 dolls but not so far.

Maybe after this Christmas?

Dear My Scene Fans,

I just returned from Big Lots! That trip was a big disappointment, as I only saw about three Club Disco Kennedy dolls and one Club Disco Chelsea doll! I'm truly hoping that the three waves that I really want to see will make their way to Big Lots! within the next month or so!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Haven't seen any here at all this year. What's there is still from last year and that's it. But then again I'm not too sure I care much. The prices on dolls at my local Big Lots are getting so extreme I've all but stopped shopping there. Why should I go to Big Lots and pay $2.50-$5.00 more for the same dolls that I can get at Target or Walmart for $10? There aren't any new My Scene dolls there anyhow, and what they have other stores have for less. TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Tuesday Morning etc, they're getting in the same dolls for less.

The other day I went in and saw the new Scotland Barbie on the shelf and got all excited because I've really been wanting her something bad, but then I realized she's listed for $20 which is the same price she was listed for at our local Walmart, non-discounted.

Big sale that, NOT.

Lately Big Lots thinks it's TRU, and I don't care much for that. The whole reason I go there is because I want to buy dolls for less. If I want to buy them at first run prices I'll just do that at Walmart or Target, and get them when they first come out and they aren't likely messed up in some way.

Big Lots, they mainly get the overstock and the flawed dolls, but they want full price and sometimes even a bit more for them?

I don't think so.

FYI, Big Lots in this area has the Fashionistas for $12.50.

That's $2.50 more than at TRU or Walmart.

There's some hope in My Scene and Big Lots. Today @ BigLots I saw the Club Night dolls! They were $9 a piece, just likeClub Disco. I would have gotten one but the only one I wanted was Madison, but they didn't have her.

Dear Samantha,

Cool! Thanks for the news! I wouldn't mind seeing the Club Night girls, but I'm hoping that they're a sign of things to come...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yay, I can reclaim the Chelsea that I had to give up! :D

I hope they get Hollywood Bling in stock so I can get a Nia as well.

I need to check the dollar store and see if they got the club girls because they always get the cheapest sets there, never the more expensive ones. If we are likely to get another set besides the Hollywood Bling it will likely be the club girls vs. anything else.

I'm honestly not expecting much from Big Lots. It's a week before Christmas and they still didn't get anything in terms of Barbie let alone anything else. I haven't been back since last week but I was really disheartened to see what they consider to be their Christmas selection for this year.

They have so little compared to most years so far. It's insane. But then again maybe they were buying on the cautious side because from what I can tell this area is so depressed that no one seems to be buying anything except jeans and underwear for their kids for Christmas.

My friend was out at Wal-Mart and she's watching people with their carts and there are no toys in them. Usually in places where they're stacking them up this time of year parents are seemingly putting one toy or maybe two under the tree. TRU was the same.

They seem to be into buying their kids what they need more than what they want and I can get that from an adult standpoint, but I can see there are going to be a lot of very disappointed kids come Christmas morning if those carts are any example of what's actually going underneath the tree!

I mean kids don't want clothing under the tree at Christmas. One or two things that way are fine, but it's the toys they look forward to and when there are only one or two items under the tree that spell fun Christmas isn't that much fun for them.

The economy must be worst than I realized because it seems like people are really cutting back to the very basics. I do hope my friend does better at the flea market this weekend considering it's the last one, but she has been doing so poorly compared to her normal figures that it's just been brutal out there this year.

She says people have been walking around the flea market and they won't even look at toys right now. It's like all they are focused on is buying the stuff the kids really need instead of giving them more toys to play with this year. The other thing I'm seeing a lot of is people selling off all the toys they already have. It's not just the vendors at the flea market this year it's all the people trying to do the garage sale thing right before Christmas.

Everybody is trying to sell off toys. Everybody's crazy for money and the market is just glutted with used toys that of course everyone wants top dollar for. I was watching stuff on craigslist for her and you have people trying to sell dolls that usually go for two dollars out at the flea market for like 10. Some of these people are insane with their prices and the prices only go lower and lower and lower as they finally get desperate.

But then again if you still have money I guess it's a good time to be a doll collector, right? There are so many dolls everywhere that people are just unloading at a fraction of what they were just to make a dent in the recession. I mean I'm seeing dolls I never thought I'd see on sale for practically next to nothing. It makes me wish I had money that I could go out and buy them all!

itsadollthang, I agree with everything you have said. I know that retailers have ordered less stock this year so that they wouldn't have to worry about the excess price reduced after the new year. I was hoping for at least two new lines to show up in Big Lots this year but the ones near me have nothing new.

My kids are going to have an awesome Christmas this year. I started Christmas shopping in the beginning of October and was done by Black Friday. I was able to get everything that they wanted plus some extras. My dad always spoiled my sister and me so I am doing the same for my kids. My husband kept telling me to be cautious with spending because of the economy but if you have a little extra to spend, why not spend it.

I do see a lot of people selling older toys at ridiculous prices and even some new ones and I it makes me laugh to think that these people think that they are going to get rich selling toys. It's hilarious, I think some of them should have finished school and actually gotten a career instead of buying toys and reselling them at high prices to pay their bills.

Dear My Scene Fans,

I don't personally like the outrageously high eBay doll prices, either, but I also know that many people have lost their jobs, and that they're desperate for money. Some of those people may have had wonderful careers during the past...careers that were taken away when bosses panicked, and started firing people.

I do know about the double-edged sword of wanting money, and nearly gouging friends/ buyers. When one is thinking of selling dolls/ semi-permanently selling dolls, they are torn between that "Well I don't CARE! I need/ want the MONEY!" feeling, and that "If I were the friend/ buyer who was about to be gouged..." feeling...

Thanks in advance for your replies.
