This is my first total re-root. I also redid her lips and eyebrows a bit. When I got her she had no hair at all hardly and half her face paint was off. She originally had lashes too, but I didn't try to replace those. I just had to save her. She'd been so abused, poor thing! I just really liked her eyes which were an usual shade of gray. I didn't change them at all. I actually did her while we were on vacation. I took her to the beach and rooted her in the shade while everybody swam. I got a lot of strange looks from some people, but the kids all thought she looked great when I was finally done! It took me the whole week and more to do this girl but I do think she came out okay. She has a pretty intricate hair style going. It's not just gathered up and braided. There are braids wound around her head and all too. There's also a longer braid that's supposed to come over one shoulder, but I forgot that when I was taking her picture, sorry. I just wanted to do something more like the AA women in my community tend to do their hair. I wanted the braids even smaller, but I couldn't handle doing tons of really tiny micro braids on the beach. It would have been too crazy, I was watching kids swim at the time, but maybe next time.

Thank you, everybody.
I've got another one, a Kennedy that I am in the midst of doing. Same deal, her hair was cropped to nothing when I got her so I am giving her a new head of hair and some new lips because her lip paint was coming off.
They were both throw away dolls. I got them for free actually because the woman I bought the lot month before last at the flea market wouldn't sell them with the messed up hair, makeup and all. There's a Barbie retro doll too that I want to do a ponytail style on.
I don't know that I'd deliberately re-root a doll with perfect hair, but I am going to be more on the lookout now for MS dolls that have nice faces that I can have fun with that way. I used to just ignore them, the bad ones, but I had fun with this one so I am up for doing more, I think.
Ok, I am off today, and my friend Barb is coming over. We're doing the trade thing so likely I'll have a new pile later today. Maybe some new MS, yay! Maybe I'll post them in another thread later if there is anything truly cool in there. I've got a lot to catch up on picture-wise.
I so did not need to lose that computer! All those pics I have to redo now! Plus I've still got some I haven't done, plus Barb wants me to take pics of what she's got so she can Ebay a bunch. I'm going to be snapping pics for a month just trying to get it all done!
