Dear My Scene Fans,

Well, I finally decided to send an email to Mattel's Corporate Communications Dept., and here's what the email said:

To Whom It May Concern:

Hello! My name is Miss [insert my first initial and my last name], and I represent a group of people who are very avid fans of your My Scene doll line! All of us continue to appreciate your My Scene dolls, but those of us who reside in North America, Canada, Australia, and various other countries, are no longer able to purchase the My Scene dolls, because they are only available in Mexico, Germany, and several other countries.

I realize that the My Scene line was released so that Mattel's Barbie line could more fairly compete with M.G.A.'s BRATZ line after a serious injustice had been committed, and that because of the recent righting of that injustice, the production of the BRATZ dolls will be handed over to Mattel, officially, and seemingly, eliminating the need for the My Scene line's existence in North America, and elsewhere.

Of course, I also know how beloved the entire My Scene crew is to My Scene fans from around the world. We eagerly anticipate each new line/ wave of My Scene dolls, and yet, many of us are not able to obtain the new dolls, because they are not available in our countries.

I understand, and I appreciate, the concept of shipping certain products to those locations wherein people are more willing to buy such products, but I also believe that the reintroduction of the My Scene line to North America, Canada, Australia, and other countries, might benefit both Mattel and the consumers of the My Scene line.

Many of the more coveted BRATZ dolls have been given very expensive retail prices, and some people have come to appreciate the more affordable quality that they can enjoy by purchasing the My Scene dolls. Since the production of the BRATZ will be under Mattel's control, I don't see the success of that line suffering to any degree. I believe that the new BRATZ dolls and the new My Scene dolls would be able to sell successfully, side by side.

The very newest My Scene dolls (Fashion Week, Lots of Looks, etc.) could be released in small to moderate numbers in at least North America, Canada, and Australia. If people from those countries were able to answer a "Would you wnat to see the newest My Scene dolls in your country?" email poll, too, more fans of this incredible doll line might come forward with the same request which I have expressed via this email message.

I genuinely hope that you will consider my request.

Thank you for your time, and for your attention, with regards to the aforementioned matter. Have a lovely day, and a sunny Summer.

Yours Truly,
Miss [insert first initial and last name]

I am ashamed to say that since I sent the email to Mattel, I have caught some embarrassing grammatical errors; I hope that the email message is successful.

Thanks in advance for your replies, and feel free to make suggestions. Feel free to tell me if your country hasn't been represented, because I'd eventually like to send Mattel an email message which would contain the names of every country which is represented here.

I realize that I may sound slightly too friendly in the email, but I believe that we can get what we want if we are willing to acknowledge the fact that Mattel doesn't always have the easiest time making decisions.

Do you think if more people send more emails like this to Mattel would they consider to stock a limited number of my scene dolls and each country?

No. They're going to continue to do what they want and what retailers want. Nothing we say can affect that.

Dear trendymyscene,

You don't necessarily know it yet...

I don't think that it can hurt those of us who wish to contact Mattel to do so, because the answer won't neccessarily be a "No" as long as we keep trying to get Mattel's attention.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

I really wish an e-mail like this would make a difference, but it won't. I'd be shocked if you got any kind of response to be honest with you. Mattel doesn't care about us. We're a small group of people, awash in a sea of ravid Silkstone collectors. We don't bring in big bucks, they do. So we'll get what we always get, diddly-poop.

And a huge part of it is the retailers and their opinions on what will sell. It's not just Mattel we'd have to write to. It's all the retailers and I doubt any of them could be persuaded by a handful of letters.

Dear My Scene Fans,

Well, I'm going to keep sending email messages periodically, anyway, and I may even send some letters to some department store chains, and to my local stores, too.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I agree, if the retailers ask Mattel or at least make the effort to get them on their stores.

Letters to Mattel I think won't matter if these retailers don't want it in their stores.

I think it's good to at least try. Some folks over at Mattel do listen, but a lot of the communication is over at their Barbie Collector site.

Some over there have been complaining relentlessly about BHS, which either has or hasn't been resolved completely yet. I happen to love big heads, which is why I collect both My Scene and Bratz (including other stuff as well). :P

Regarding retailers, I'd be out of my mind with joy if even one retailer (say Amazon.com for instance), were to sell My Scene dolls. I'm pretty sure they'd sell out if all the US collectors were to hit up one particular spot.

Thanks for sharing that Jeannie, that's a nicely written letter. I'm curious to know what the response will be.

Dear My Scene Fans,

I haven't received any responses from Mattel, but I just now sent an email message to KMart. I'm hoping that they'll respond to my email message. Wish me luck!

Thanks in advance for your replies.
