Dear My Scene Fans,
I know that the 2008 Secret Santa game has barely ended, but I have decided that some official rules must be laid down now, so that we can all avoid any sorts of troubles, misunderstandings, etc., next year.
Besides, a new set of rules will make the game more self-explainatory, even if someone else wants to be the Chairperson next year (I won't mind being the Chairperson, but I won't mind if someone else wants to run the game in 2009, either.).
The new rules are as follows (I will be more specific during the future):
PARTICIPATION COMMITTMENTS
If you wish to participate, you must be at least 18+ years of age, and you must be willing to seriously commit to your role in the game, and, should you wish, or need, to leave the game, you must do so by the "Exit" deadline, unless a true emergency should arise; in that case, you should send a PM to the Chairperson, as soon as that is possible.
DATES
Game Announcement= Early August
Participation Deadline= Late August
Exit Deadline= Mid-September
Wish Lists, Preferred Mailing Addresses, and Card Preferences DUE: Late September
Secret Santas Selected: Late September
Shopping Time= From late September through mid-November
Shipping Time= From early November through mid-November
Reveal= The last week of December
GENERAL RULES
1. Your Wish List must include a wide range of items (at least some of these ought to be items which can be easily found in stores), so that your Secret Santa won't find their shopping expeditions to be totally impossible. Each Wish List must include no fewer than 10, but no more than 30, items. Please type out the full names of the dolls that you want, because acronyms can be confusing. If you are even slightly picky, feel free to say something like "I like tall eyelids," or "The blushiness of a doll is super important to me.", so that your Secret Santa will be able to find that perfect doll for you; realize that your Secret Santa can't be totally perfect when they're shopping.
2. When you send your PM to the Chairperson, you must include within that PM your Wish List, your preferred mailing address, and your card preference (You may wish to receive a generic holiday card, or a card which bears the greeting of a non-Christian faith, and your Secret Santa will need to know about that; if you don't wish to reveal your faith, you may simply request a generic card, and if you don't celebrate the holidays, you may request a simple, non-holiday card)
3. Your Secret Santa duties arrive with rules! You may shop online, but you will have to do so at your own risk, knowing full well that the online shopping experience can bring with it delays, dishonest dealings, etc. You must avoid spending less than $10.00, and more than $30.00, before S&H, and your total, AFTER the S&H, musn't reach more than $50.00.
I am willing to welcome suggestions, comments, etc., because I'd like for the 2009 Secret Santa game to be the most successful Secret Santa game ever!
Thanks in advance for your replies.
