Dear My Scene Fans,

The following url will allow you to see the newest trailer for Disney's animated Holiday Season movie, "The Princess and The Frog":

movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809838280/video/15448549

The newest trailer features the singing voice of Princess Tiana.

My opinion about the trailer is as follows:

Morbid curiosity will persuade me to see the movie, even though I personally think that the newest trailer makes the movie seem crude, rude, and really typical! I am so sick of obvious fart, butt, and tonguing jokes...ickaroo! I like euphemisms and innuendo-esque comments that aren't so in-your-face!

I know, I know. I'm making all of those statements after having become known as someone who isn't afraid of erotic references; even so, some Disney movie jokes just get old...in a short amount of time...

I'm also wondering how race-obsessed Disney is being, with regards to their treatment of the movie. Note the obsessive comments about the fact that one's outer looks (Ie: One's race) doesn't matter, and all of the repetitive mentions of "the light"...I don't know about you, but I smell thinly-veiled racism...

I must also say that even though the gator will probably be a cool character, I almost wish that he were something other than a gator; anybody who's seen "All Dogs Go to Heaven" will know what I'm referring to...

Since this is a free internet, I'm not opposed to any opposing comments that you might wish to make...

I'm also aware that none of us have seen the movie yet, and that, as the main song implies, "anything can happen" between what we believe right now, and what we will believe once we've seen the movie.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Target has a set of Disney Princess dolls that includes the first Tiana doll on the market and some stores have a display where you can choose a Princess and it sings a song, so I got my first preview of Tiana singing a few weeks ago!

Can't watch this preview, though, as I have a strict policy of ignoring all references to a movie that I plan to pay to see in the theater.

Target is all about the Princess sets now. I remember when they had the 'sparkle' princesses and Mulan got lumped in with them. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Mulan (and now Tiana) are getting their time in the spotlight, but what about Pocahontas? She can paint with the colors of the wind Damn it!

I *heart* you. Hardcore. Don't forget, it's DISNEY'S marketing to blame. If they thought Pocahontas merch would sell, they'd produce it. Still, we saw Pocahontas both time we went to Disney World this year, so that DOES account for something. She's just on a back burner until her next movie anniversary comes around.

Dear My Scene Fans,

Wanna see the smooth, belly-baring, spooky villain of "The Princess and The Frog"?

Log onto...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y3-Y6bMh0M

The end of that video genuinely spooks me! I wonder if the villain will try to cozy up to Tiana? She seems to be too smart to fall for him, and hopefully, she'll have the chance to actually punch him in the gut during a final fight scene, or something! Please, please, please DON'T make Naveen fight him alone! If Tiana gets knocked down, I think that she should retaliate!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm sure you're right. Now that I think about it, maybe that'd be a bad thing. I'm not sure I want to see a 'Glitter Princess' Pocahontas.

Oh Lori! Why'd you have to show me that?! I want to gouge my eyes out Blind Mag style now.

That is SO wrong on so many levels! Pocahontas and Mulan have no business in tutus and toe shoes!

ICK, way too frilly and girly for those characters.

I'd luv to see more Pochahontas too. She is one of Disney's ACTUAL princesses and she is totally in the shadows.

I read somewhere that Disney omits Mulan and Pocahontas because they don't wear gowns and don't have that 'Bling' factor.

Eh, I don't consider Pocahontas a princess. She's a historical figure and wow, did Disney ever F that history up. It's actually the worst of the Disney movies, in my opinion. The entire thing is twisted to turn it into a more typical fairytale. She's changed from an 11-year-old girl into a walking, singing Barbie doll. I just don't get why they did it when there are so many viable fairytales out there.

Mulan's able to be "bling"ed, too:

You can see her Imperial Beauty doll in the middle of that shelf. She's easily my fave Disney doll. While not accurate to the movies, at least she's not a friggin' ballerina.

Dear My Scene Fans,

I think that Mulan actually looks pretty as a ballerina.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I agree with Jeannie, minus the Mulan factor. If she's just another different doll she is ok!

I wouldn't mind it, if it wasn't completely against her character. I don't care if they make Cinderella and Aurora ballerinas because they were the 'meek' princess types. Granted I'm not to thrilled about that either. But being a frilly ballerina is NOT what Mulan was about. She wanted to be a soldier, not a pretty pretty princess. The idea is far fetched for most of the Dinsey princesses, but even more so for Mulan and Pocahontas.

Plus, there's the issue of forcing a Western concept on a non-Western doll. The doll is pretty, but that's so wrong. That's my issue with calling Pocahontas a princess, too. Western forced on non-Western.

I didn't even think of that, but that is very true.

Does anyone remember when "The Wonderful World of Disney" aired Cinderella starring Brandy? Does anyone else think Princess Tiana looks like an animated version of Brandy in that movie?

Don't you think?

OMG, Disney's R&H Cinderella is one of my all time fave movies! :D

Tiana does look like Brandy! Even right down to the dangling curls. :)

OMG, she does! The face still looks more like Anika Noni Rose though. She was on...I think it was The View...a couple days ago and they put her face next to Tiana's and there's a definite resemblance.
