Dear My Scene Fans,

*SPOILER ALERT FOR "PINOCCHIO"*

I recently watched the 1940, animated Disney version of "Pinocchio", and I decided that the story is indeed religious, AND frighteningly unnatural!

RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS:

* Gepetto wishes/ prays for a child; perhaps he can't have kids

* Jiminy Cricket= Like a religious teacher, who must gain glory, in part, via his own reformation.

* The Blue Fairy and Gepetto= Immaculate Conception of Pinocchio!

* Trials and Temptations for both Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket

* Gepetto lives, for some time, within "the belly of a whale" (a la Jonah), and he eats fish

* The final trial (the Monstro scene) and a resurrection of sorts (Pinocchio is brought to life)

FRIGHTENINGLY UNNATURAL ELEMENTS:

* Immaculate Conception occurrs, but a very unnatural child is conceived

* Gepetto and Pinocchio both suggest sterility, anti-eroticism, and/ or no anatomical correctness...

* Gepetto desires paternity, and he also desires to make Pinocchio "normal"...

* The "abnormal" child must suffer, and die, in order to become "normal" (Ie: "The Other" is destroyed) Child suffers for father's inability to have children?

* The movie begins, and ends, at night! Was the entire story simply a sad, wistful dream in Gepetto's mind?

* Forced eating disorder (Ie: "We won't eat a bite until Pinocchio is found!") resulting from depression? True starvation (Ie: No food inside the belly of the whale) as punnishment for depression?

What are your opinions about the movie?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Not much to say but... I guess you can find anything if you look at it just right. I have seen that movie a couple of times (With my bff and bf) and I never even noticed those things, but you're right.

I'm really surprised I never noticed the entire movie happened during the night. I usually notice things like that...

Dear mysceneboy,

If you "usually notice things like that", then you're actually super observant! Cool!

Thanks in advance for your reply.

..... o.O

IT'S A KIDS MOVIE! End of. Why can't you just watch films and enjoy them without critising them 24/7 and coming up with these bizzare ideas?

Dear Mao,

To think that you could've just said that you don't like my ideas...

If I were literally analyzing movies 24/7, my brain would be fried! The implications of that type of situation are both horrifying and interestingly humorous.

I realize that you were making a generalization, but still...

The ability to try to make someone doubt their own mind is as scary as the ability to imply that something that most people consider to be simple might be more detailed...

Then again, this world IS a rather interesting, because its occupants are all at once innocent and guilty.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Dear My Scene Fans,

Thank you for the interesting news, birdie. Pinocchio's outfit looks to be rather detailed! Wow! Of course, I like his shoes the best!

I can't help noticing his uncharacteristically light hair, though. Is that doll supposed to BE Pinocchio, or is he supposed to be dressed in the general STYLE of Pinocchio? He also seems to look youthfully ticked off, too, but then again, Pinocchio wasn't exactly treated nicely by everybody, so he had a reason to be ticked off.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

It's an official Disney collab, he (it's really a she) is supposed to be "the real thing". And yeah, Dals have pouty faces, it's part of their charm once you grow to like them.

More recent collabs (click to view larger):

Plus no less than two recent Audrey Hepburn collabs, you will probably find them interesting. I really like them, myself!
